HI, I yesterday heard on the news the duchess of york had gone undercover in turkey.. The press were recognising how sarah had been negatively perceived by the turkish government in relation to this matter. I just wanted to say , you go girl, im also a mum of 3 and a staff nurse and have immense distaste for some of the politics in this world especially those used to slide aside the fundamentals of kindness and goodness in life, usually and purely for someones own narcissitic needs. Thankyou for fighting for the recognition of orphans plight in turkey. I did not know of their plight but will be moved to see how i as an individual can help..please note Im not generally someone who feels moved to contact anyone in celebrity land but i must advise how gutsy you are,Thank goodness for you, well done, I admire you.....x

Dear Ms/Duchess Ferguson,

I am a Turkish young woman, who lives/works in Europe since a couple of years. I have read today in the newspaper about your visit in Turkey, and your objective investigation about orphanage. I just wanted to cry and wanted to thank you with all my heart as a Turkish citizen that you have interested with that topic.

We are the children’s of a genius person Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He was the one who started Children’s Day. Ataturk loved children and him often saying that: “Children are a new beginning of tomorrow”. He even dedicated the day 23rd of April to the children which is today celebrated as Children’s Day as well as the date when the Republic of Turkey was founded. I feel so sad…. I can not put my feelings in words…..

Besides that you should also investigate about senior houses (nursing home for old people). I feel also so sad about them…. Children are our future and seniors are our past, and it is a shame that they are forgotten, if they o not have a family or money….

Thank you that you have showed such a REALITY to all Europe, that the government, responsible Ministry will get in action and for the Humanity again thanks a lot
You are a golden person.
With all my respect,
B.C.

As a 36 year old mother of two boys aged 5 years old and 7 months old I wanted to express my support and admiration to you at your determination to bring to the worlds attention the plight of the children in the orphanages in Turkey. I appreciate that you put your reputation on the line every time you enter into a controversial debate but your response as to the backlash you may receive when questioned on BBC Radio yesterday was perfect and admirable. I hope now that other countries who have already been excepted in to the EU and who are still "keeping" children in such barbaric conditions will be further investigated and forced into making immediate changes.

Well done you!

Hi Sarah & girls. I watched last night's eposode of your visit to Romania with such interest. Together with my niece we have made many trips to Romania for exactly the same reasons as you & found exactly the same. Our little friends all tied up, the worse of all was finding Alex tied to his bed via his feet, hands and neck! it broke our hearts but gave us a further push to help which we have done by building a 'soft room' and providing 4 new accomodations for the orphaned children to live in like a family. I have experienced a lot with being attacked and stolen from (a whole lorry load) & subjected to extremely difficult situations but never stopped caring for the children. I have taken a lad on myself from the age of 14 and who is now 28 & living well. Your finding broke my heart all over again & got me all fired up as I have had the same excuises given to me over and over again, always being told they will investigate always avoiding us filming or taking pictures saying it is for the rights of the children when we know full well it is because they dont want the British public to see the truth but that make you feel that they know it is wrong yet still do it. Good luck in all you do and if I can help in anyway with my 10 years of experience or to offer the help of my lovely lad who is a knowledge of information from the heart then please feel free to contact me. Big well done for showing the girls the importance of real world life, I felt very responsible for my niece & wanted to protect her from the sights we saw but she gained so much from it & after watching you last night has asked if we can go back again soon!

I watched your TV program about the level of care of disabled children in other countries and was absolutely appalled even in tears at one point. I currently care for disbaled children in a lovely school/home in Bristol and I know how hard it is. However there is no need for the children to be cared for the way they are. Disabled children / autistic chldren are still people and they have a right to live life to there full potential. Interaction with these children makes so much difference to the way they behave and their future. Where I work a big thing is intnsice interaction and this proves as a level of communication and increases their quality of life. I feel I am doing a good job here in Bristol however watching your program made me sad that children with disabilities are being neglected. Please e-mail me back and let me know how using my knowledge and training I can help. Many Thanks someone who also cares x

hi Sarah

the documentary you did regarding the child institutions in turkey have had a massive impact on me, the pictures of children in such conditions made me cringe.
The fact in this day and age disabilities are still not respected it hurts me to be a part of the human race when i see how some children are treated by fellow humans. The absolute killer for me was the little boy shuffling up and down the corridor to follow a ray of sunshine his only experience of the sun just brought me to tears and does everytime i think of it.
Thank you and your girls for bringing the plite of these unfortunate children into the media spotlight.

highest respect

Hello Sarah

I watched the Tonight Programme regarding the appalling way children in orphanages Rumania and Turkey.

I hope that with highlighting this, things will changge for the better.

All children should have the right to people who love and care for them.

We have just been approved to be adopters with a children's charity here in the UK and are currently going through all the assessments.

If we can change just one small life for the better,I will feel I have done something very positive while being in this world.

Keep up the good work with children Sarah. If there is anything you think I can do to help with your charities please contact me

i am a trustee of a charity called Forget-me-not Foundation Romania full details of which can be found on the internet My son Simon is the founder of this UK registered charity and it is solely supported by the small company that he owns. He promised Social Services Romania that he would fund the home for five years. It is now in excess of six years and unfortunately he can no longer financially sustain the care of these five children all of whom have learning difficultiesand came from one of the state orphanages as we saw on your programme. All the children have made remarkable progress and two now attend normal school although, obviously a few grades below their age group. Simon would like some help and suggestions on how to continue this orphanage He is willing for the home to continue to be used for the care of these children, and maybe, a few more, but he can no longer support the financial cost of the care of them. The home is fully staffed, well equipped and managed. The house is in excellent order. The children are happy and well cared for. Please is there anyway you can help. You are welcome to visit the orphanage and Simon will be in Romania himself between 17th and 19th December Many thanks Carole

I was deeply touched by the programm "Duchess and daughters" and, being the mother of a 10 months old baby girl, finds it difficult not to think of those children abandonned in state orphanage without any personnal care and attention. When I give her a kiss, settle her back to sleep after a bad dream I can't stop but wonder what those children must feel like not having the reassurance and love of an adult to make them feel better. I would love to know if there is any charity that could be contacted that would actually be hands on helping those children, not to have painted walls, but human care and attention. Thanks for your time
Morgane

hello sarah, i am a turkish cypriot living in London with my three children and partner. my middle child has profound physical and learning disabilities and it can be a struggle to enable we are doing the best for her. i have not yet seen the documentary regarding the orphanage for children both with disabilities and their treatment in the institution. there will be a defensive element from the community as it is true turkey is not the only country where such injustices are taking place, but also it must be appreciated that you are showing an interest in turkey, in particular to highlight these problems and hopefully be able to assist and improve the situation. i think their defense is expected and the institutions have remained the same as it was from about 100 years ago, similarly to our own institutions, but change has and is still happening here, so hope that your high profile can assist with the change. i am also involved in changing the views of disability awareness within our community and write ariticles for a turkish newspaper regarding these issues. please contact me for any help or assistance with this important plight. regards pelin ahmet wtnasoviis hap eg noa ieaveiand without ofrs aaelnv
