Losing weight is one part organization, one part inspiration. It’s one thing to know how to lose weight. Perhaps just as important is a belief that we can---and will.

I struggled quite famously with my weight for years, flitting from one quick fix diet to another. In retrospect I fought valiantly, yet ultimately lost the battle because I did not acknowledge what I now know: Diets don’t work. And Weight Watchers does. That’s because Weight Watchers is not a diet. It’s about adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Start Living, Start Losing brings you some of Weight Watchers best-ever and most inspiring stories of women and men who have lost weight and kept it off.  In their own voices, they share their personal experiences of gaining a healthy lifestyle and reveal their practical tips and secrets for success.  Start Living, Start Losing gives anyone seeking a new start to lifelong vitality the jump they need.  Please visit www.weightwatchers.com/startliving for more information and where to purchase the book.

I didn’t always know I was an emotional eater. Before I began the Program, everything in my life revolved around food—I was always looking for my next fix. Whether I was happy or sad, even tired. Actually, that is the perfect example: If I had been this tired a decade ago, I would have reached for the nearest bagel because I thought it would give me a kick. Now I know that when I’m tired I need sleep, not food. - Excerpt from Sarah's Story in Weight Watchers Start Living, Start Losing: Inspirational Stories That Will Motivate You Now

Dear Sarah,
You are spot on !
Weight issues are always connected to Emotional issues.
I am an EFT Practitioner/Trainer (Emotional Freedom Techniques)and consistently see this.
However, I also see it ( or not ) in myself...if I am putting weight on there is always an emotional issue behind this..often subconciousl We self sabotage any chance of losing weight, again subconciously until we can eliminate the emotion/s involved.
Thank you for your insight in the emotional side of weight issues.
Warmest wishes,
Marie

Dear Sarah

I totally agree with your comments regarding emotional eating.

I was a yo-yo dieter for 20 years and reflecting back it was due to one particular emotional issue in my life that I could not deal with. I learnt to deal with it and also joined Weight Watchers where I learnt to change my behaviours step by step. I not only lost 12.8k but more importantly for me, I have maintained for over 2 years now.

I have also been a WW Leader here in Spain within the English Speaking community on the Costa Blanca for nearly 3 years. I am also one of the 10 Leaders of the Year 2008!

Weight Watchers has changed my life to one which is more emotionally rewarding which has given me more confidence and I feel, finally, at 42 happy in my skin!
